Forget Head to Head Comparisons of iPad Vs Surface, THIS is the Ad Microsoft Should Have Made

We are living in historic times in which leaders are chosen, and those leaders then do everything in their power to remain ahead. No, I am not talking about Obama winning the elections, I am referring to Microsoft’s new platform, Windows 8. Microsoft has led the PC space (PC, as in Personal Computers, not PC/Mac) since, well forever, and it has no intention of letting that advantage go anywhere anytime soon.

The company is putting some serious promotional power behind this new platform and marketing expenses are estimated to be around $1.5 billion if the reports are accurate.

While some of the ads for the Surface and Windows 8 are catchy and successful in putting a smile on your face, I am not sure they succeed is communicating that the iPad is a thing of the past and with the Surface, you can not only consume content, but you can also create it. That is not my opinion, but rather the message that Microsoft should be selling,

Well, take a look below at a great fan-generated ad, which mocks Apple’s new iPad Mini ad. You can see Apple’s original ad here. To be perfectly clear, I have said many times that I am no fan of the Samsung form of advertising, in which the company targets and even calls out its direct competitors. The reason I don’t like it? It communicates weakness.

It is for that reason that I was also not a fan of Apple comparing the iPad Mini to the Nexus 7 on stage. Weakness.

Except in Microsoft’s case, it does not need ads to tell us that it is weak in the mobile space. The numbers prove that. What Microsoft needs to do now is take on those competitors in the most aggressive manner possible, even if that means showing a Surface breaking the screen of an iPad playing piano as well as the electronic hand that was playing it.

Great ad. Looking forward to seeing such ads come out of Redmond itself in the near future.

Yes. I think Microsoft should have to hit the market with some new innovations or features on mobile phones. If you compare iPad mini & Google Nexus tablet then Google Nexus tablet is much better than iPad mini.

I have seen this ad before in YouTube. It failed to interest me then and it fails to interest me now. I liked the windows 8 commercial though. It is important to advertise a product in a way that the effect stays long after the commercial. Now, that is what I call smart advertising! Windows 8 transfer
