Siri Goes Head to Head with Google Now and Let’s Just Say… It’s Not Pretty

The long and ongoing battle between Google and Apple just keeps getting hotter. Truth be told, you know Google is doing something right when you visit sites like 9to5Mac and the majority of the posts on the home page are about Google.

Apple’s aggressive legal battles against Google are also an indication that the world’s most valuable company is starting to feel somewhat threatened by what was once a search company.

The thing is, Google seems to be taking the high road and battling Apple with innovation as opposed to litigation. That is the right way to go. Google fans, on the other hand, took to Google+ with the hashtag #BoycottApple and it didn’t take long before it was trending. Not sure about that tactic.

Anyway, drama aside, let’s talk tech. Apple has used all its marketing power to push Siri to consumers. Almost all of Apple’s ads over the past year have focused on Siri. The parodies and Siri clones did not take long either. Of course, Android had its voice search for years now, but Siri, Siri was just so human-like.

Well, in Google IO 2012, Google made some super interesting announcements including the Nexus 7, Nexus Q, Project Glass, and Google Now.

You can watch Google Voice Search with Google Now in action below side by side with Siri on iOS6. I would say, with very few exceptions, Google is the clear winner. Having said that, let’s not forget that iOS 6 is still in developer Beta mode so perhaps Apple will improve Siri before releasing iOS 6 to the public. I’m sure the heat Apple is feeling from Google will only push it to innovate further. I sure hope so.

Meanwhile… Google: 1.   Apple: 0
