Cuboid Free by HeroCraft Pushes the Limits of 3D Mobile Graphics
By: Hillel Fuld (@hilzfuld)
I have to be honest, I am not much a puzzle apps type of guy. Generally speaking, puzzles are too complicated for me, a casual gamer looking to play a few minutes here and there, not really interested in reading complex tutorials. However, when HeroCraft, a mega publisher released the new Cuboid on iOS for free in May, I figured I would give it a try.
I was instantly impressed. With an ancient Indiana Jones feel to it, Cuboid Free has an awesome soundtrack, challenging game play and most importantly, stunning 3D graphics.
With 77 levels, each challenging and engaging, the user gets a solid few hours of game play and the advanced levels will definitely keep you on your toes.
The goal is pretty straight forward; roll over the cube across the puzzle’s terrain, without letting it fall off the edges, until reaching its final position – a squared hole. However, just when you think you are starting to get the hang of it, new puzzle elements (buttons, teleportation and what not) are added and the difficulty reaches a whole new level.
The inneractive ads were integrated intelligently appearing along the top of the screen and in between levels, which does not distract the user from the game itself.
A few words about the developer:
The Russian based HeroCraft is a major, veteran publisher. Developing applications for Android, iOS and Nokia platforms, HeroCraft apps have a great reputation over the years. This is evident in HeroCraft’s Google Play’s Top Developer status as well as the very high number of downloads of its Nokia apps. The Cuboid title elegantly complements this publisher’s impressive portfolio.
