Apple CEO, Tim Cook Addresses Siri’s Shortcomings Including a Teaser about We Can Expect
By: Hillel Fuld (@hilzfuld)
Tim Cook has one of the most difficult jobs in the world. Besides being a CEO of the world’s most valuable company and managing to consistently release products that meet the highest standards of criticism, the man had the world’s biggest shoes to fill.
Replacing a man like Steve Jobs cannot be an easy thing to do and many people, almost everyone in fact, was skeptical. That skepticism was pretty much put to rest yesterday when Cook took the traditional D10 stage to answer Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg’s questions about the company, its strategy, past, present, and future.
Anyone who knows Tim Cook uses one word to describe him, calculated. You can see in the video below that the man thinks ten times before every word he says, which, let’s be honest, is the opposite of the emotional behavior of Steve Jobs. There are of course positive and negative aspects to both personality types.
Putting aside my knowledge of human psychology, or lack thereof, Siri has been a heated topic of discussion since its release. While it maintains the Beta tag, something you do not seen often from Apple, many people, myself included, are underwhelmed by Siri’s performance. In other words, it just does not work the way you would expect an Apple product to work.
Well Tim addressed this question and did it in a professional manner, while throwing in the obvious teaser for what we can expect from Siri in the near future. As far as Siri, he potential is obviously there and Siri is already far better than any of its competitors, including S-Voice on the new SIII, so I, for one am looking forward to what comes next for Siri.
