Was Microsoft Right? Is Tellme Really the Same as Siri Minus Apple Marketing? (VIDEO)

One of the principles of blogging or at least one we decided upon long ago is to diversify the content. It is important to talk about various technologies, multiple companies, and assorted news items. Talking about one specific company whether it is Apple or inneractive, is never a good idea when trying to keep your audience happy.

Despite that fundamental principle, this is the third post in a row about Microsoft. The first one was about how well the Windows Phone platform is developing, the second was about Microsoft making a strange statement that Siri is no big deal. Whether or not that is true, it never looks good for a company when it attacks a competitor in public, especially when the product in discussion is being sold like hotcakes.

Having said that, three posts in a row about Microsoft must mean they are doing something very right (or wrong). I guess this is the moment to quote the famous saying “No such thing as bad PR”.

Now on to the topic of the post. Microsoft said Siri is no biggie since Microsoft has had Tellme for a year now on the Windows Phone platform. To be honest, and at the risk of sounding like a newbie, I have used the Windows platform and have read hundreds of articles about it and I never even heard of Tellme. Have you?

OK but that is irrelevant and that can be attributed to pure Apple marketing. But how does it work? How is Siri when compared to Tellme? Is Microsoft right about the Siri buzz being yet another conspiracy created by the Apple fanboys around the world? Watch the video to find out.
