Dominos Launches iPad App/Campaign, Fulfills Every Kid’s Dream

The word revolution has become so old already with every salesman and marketing person saying their new product will “revolutionize the <insert multi billion dollar industry upon which the new product will have zero effect”> industry”. Except that does not take away from the fact that there are some things that truly constitute a revolution and mobile phones/tablets are one such thing.

It is difficult to think of a market that was not in any way affected by the proliferation of mobile and tablet devices and that to me spells revolution. Whether it is digital photography, music, movies, TV, books, games, retail stores, and even food, mobile technology is everywhere. Check out the newest iPad 2 ad for more examples.

Dominos, the global pizza chain, just took this mobile/tablet revolution one step further with a new iPad app that will surely amaze you. What kid does not at one point or another dream of opening a pizza joint so they can do that famous pizza flip in the air that we have all seen in movies, but not too often in real life? I know I always wanted to try it.

Now, with the new Dominos Pizza Hero iPad app, you can literally create and design your pizza and have it delivered to your door. You gotta see the video below to understand. But Dominos did not stop there. They added a whole competitive layer on top of the pizza designing app that will enable users to compete with others on how fast they can make the pizza and how good of a pizza they can create (not sure what the parameters are).

There is a leaderboard for scores and integration of social platforms to share your accomplishments. This is some pretty state-of-the-art geekiness right here. Who would have thought it would come from Dominos?

Next you will tell me that Wal-Mart is going high-tech too. Oh wait.
