Mobile search is a ginormous space right now and that is understandable. Smartphones are everywhere, so people are using them to search more every day. Many app developers have already recognized that and capitalized on this hot space. Doat is one example.

Today, Google announced a new feature that will increase mobile ad conversions on the mobile Web, provide a serious download boost for mobile developers, and enhance the overall usability of mobile search for the consumer.

You can read all about the Google announcement here, but basically the way it works is a user searches Google on a mobile device. The results will not include a link, which can lead you to one of two places. If you have the relevant app installed on your phone, the link will lead you to a specific place in the app. For example, you search for the word “Pizza”, the link will lead you to that search query in Yelp or any other app on your phone and you will immediately see results for local pizza joints based on review or location.

If you do not have that app installed, you will be directed to the App Store or Market to download the app. It is a click to download link directly embedded into Google’s search results. Just in case you have not realized just how big mobile is, this is yet another indication. Google doesn’t just add anything into its search results.

Watch the video, it is super interesting and says a lot about the future of search, mobile, and the combination of the two.
