500,000 iOS Apps in Three Years, out of Which 36 Percent Are Free
Three leading companies in the mobile app ecosystem, Chomp, 148Apps, and Chillingo just released a very interesting and informative infographic about the Apple App Store, which still dominates the landscape both in terms of numbers and some might say, user experience.
The infographic is very detailed and has information on the development of the App Store from its 2008 birth till today with its 400,000 live apps and 500,000 total approved apps.
Some of the other highlights that we found interesting, especially since they are almost precisely the exact number we see internally include:
- Over 85,000 Unique Developers.
- Games and Entertainment account for 26% of all iOS downloads.
- 21.6 billion apps in 2013, $30 billion in revenue.
- Nearly $900,000 is the value of all currently live apps.
- An average of 4.6 apps per developer.
- 148,000 free apps, 245,000 paid apps.
There is a lot more great information in the infographic below and if mobile apps interest you, we highly recommend you check it out.
